Disney Princess Rapunzel Story
It was a long time ago that a husband and wife used to live in the country of Germany in the continent of Europe. Both had no one else except each other. Even after many years of marriage, they did not have any child. Time was passing in such a way that suddenly one day the woman felt a child in her womb and during pregnancy she felt that she should eat a vegetable called Rapunzel. That herb was not available anywhere around. Husband and wife lived near the garden of a sorceress. When the husband listened to the wife’s mind, the husband promised her that he would bring that herb named Rapunzel for her. Stealthily entering the garden, he plucked that vegetable for his wife and this sequence continued for several days.
One day the sorceress, the mistress of the garden, whose name was Dame Gothel, saw him stealing this, and the sorceress took the husband hostage. The husband begged the sorceress a lot and finally the sorceress agreed to give the herb to his wife on one condition. The condition was that after the birth of the child, he would hand it over to the sorceress. Disappointed, the husband agreed to her and as soon as the child was born, he handed over his daughter to the sorceress. The sorceress nurtured her daughter with utmost care and named her Rapunzel after the same herb. Rapunzel started developing slowly into a very beautiful girl. The discussion of his golden hair and unique appearance started spreading slowly in the surrounding place.
As soon as the girl was 12 years old, the sorceress Dame Gothel imprisoned her in a tower in which there was neither a door nor a ladder to climb. It had a room on a high place, which had only one window. The sorceress would reach the little girl through her magical powers and visit her every day during the day time. In the same way the days started passing that girl grew up and developed into a very beautiful woman. Her long thick golden hair grew so long that later the sorceress climbed the tower with them to come and go from room to room. While doing this, she called out to Rapunzel and said, “Repanzel, drop your hair, so that I can climb up on your golden hair.”
Time passed like this and one day the prince of a kingdom wandered around and came to the same area where Rapunzel lived in that tower. Rapunzel’s voice had a unique sweetness, it was as if time stood still when she sang. One day the prince heard a sweet voice while walking. When the prince went to the tower to know where the voice was coming from, he saw that a beautiful woman lived in a room on top of a high tower. Hearing this sweet voice of her, the prince was deeply attracted towards her and could not control his curiosity. He made up his mind that he would live with the woman living in this closed tower, whose voice is so sweet. One day when the sorceress came to visit Rapunzel during the day, she saw the sorceress saying that word and climbing up through her hair. Similarly, when the prince called for Rapunzel at night, she hung her hair on the tower to make him come. The prince went upstairs to meet Rapunzel.
Rapunzel and the prince started loving each other. The two took a liking to each other as soon as they met and became intimate companions for each other. So the prince proposed marriage to Rapunzel. Rapunzel agreed to this and the meeting of the two began to grow slowly. The sorceress Dame Gothel used to visit Rapunzel every day during the day. The prince and Rapunzel together make a plan that Rapunzel will make a ladder from the silk given by the prince, so that both of them can escape from that place. Due to Rapunzel’s folly, the sorceress Dame Gothel learns of the prince’s courting of Rapunzel and her pregnancy. The sorceress Dame Gothel casts Rapunzel out of the tower and leaves her alone to roam the woods among the wild beasts, and she herself hides in the tower room. For the prince to climb, he cut off Rapunzel’s hair and hung her out of the tower so that the prince could climb up without any suspicion. When the prince came that night to meet Rapunzel, he was horrified to find the sorceress instead of Rapunzel and jumped off the tower, losing sight of both eyes from the thorns below. When the prince started falling down, Rapunzel’s cut hair came in his hand and Rapunzel’s long hair fell down with the prince. With no other way to get down, the sorceress Dame Gothel gets trapped in the tower and eventually dies.
Having lost his eyes and his beloved, the prince wandered from place to place, blind and disheartened. After wandering like this for several months, he reached the area where Rapunzel had settled. On the other hand, Rapunzel gave birth to twins; Of whom a daughter and a son were born. Similarly, after being separated from each other for some time, both of them finally met at a place in the same kingdom, and their meeting miraculously restored the prince’s sight and brought back Rapunzel’s long golden hair, and both laughed happily. Started living life together.
